The Roth Family Philp Roth:(new info)
Philip is the main charter and narrateor of the novel. He is seven years old and has the hobby of colectiong U.S postal stamps.He seems to take an observer's stance in the novle he does not seem to make alot of dicisions on his own accord but more under the influence of his famely and freinds. He fears the opression that his dad thinks Lindbergh brings in, thease are most prevlent in his dreams, which seen to asume a role a from of foreshadowing. Upon seeing his famly just will to give up and move to Kentucky he goes to Evelyn's office and goes to convenice her that they shouldn't go but Seldon and his mother, their downstaris neibhor and Herman's co-worker should go insted. He convincs her to have Seldon move to Kentucky but fails in the process of leting the famley say in New Jersy.

Herman is Phillps father. He is very patroic and supports Roosevelt. He is strongly opposed to Lindbergh and is not afraid to voice his opinon about him, which almost gets him in to a fight and gave him the lable "loudmouth Jew". He dislikes Aunt Evelyn, and eventually kickes her out of the house when she trys to take Sandy to a White House dinner with Lindbergh and a german diplomate. He clamis that he "is not impressed by the White House, I am only impressed by who lives there. And the preson who lives there is a Nazi." He kicked her out when she calimed that she had Rabbi Bengelsdorf pull alot of strings for Sandy. When the Homested 42 act is put into place he quits his job as an insurence salesman so his famly will not have to move to Kentucky. He begins working for Monty at the market. He begines to drink hevely and is more subdued, He does not voice his opinion as much as he did before he quit his job.
Sandy Roth:
Sandy is Philp's twelve year old brother. He is very artistic and is an exelent drawer. Under his bed there is a protfolio of his works including, theree superb posters of Lindbergh, which is simaltanouly proud of and ashamed of at the same time. Sandy joins "Just Folks" a program setup by Lindbergh's adminstration for the minorotys to see what the rest of America is like. He is sent to a Kentucky tabbaco farm, where he spends time with the Mawhinney famly who, are an example of a secussful gentil famly. Sandy takes to faith the things he learned there and becomes more and more in support of Lindbergh. He soon begins to butt heads with his father.

Bess is Philp's mother. She is the sterotypical Jewish mother.
Alvin Roth:
Alvin is Philp's cousin. He goes to Canidia to join their milltary to fight the Nazis. He is wounded during a raid in France. He looses a leg and is sent home. Alvin is depressed and ashamed of himself. He does not go out in to public and does not wish to be seen in his crippled state. When he finds Sandy's pictures of Lindbergh he gets angry thinkng Sandy keept them to protect the famly because he ran to Canada ot fight the Nazis. He takes up gambleing, he shoots craps and plays stud poker behind the highschool. His uncle Monty, offers him a job at his produce market, which Alvin accepts after Monty gives him a cold hearted lecture.
